Book: Residential Reception of Children and Young People in Danger: Concepts, Practice and Intervention

Book: Residencial Reception of Children and Young People in Danger: Concepts, Practice and Intervention

ProChild CoLAB is proud to announce the publication of the book chapter “Children and Young People Deprived of Intimate Partner Homicide Parenting: Characterization, Impact and Good Practices in Support and Intervention” developed in co-authorship by Helena Grangeia, ProChild CoLAB researcher, with Joana Neiva, Mariana Gonçalves and Marlene Matos, included in the book Residential Reception of Children and Young People in Danger: Concepts, Practice and Intervention, published by PACTOR.

In cases of intimate partner homicide, the victim’s and the aggressor’s children, who have often not yet reached the age of majority, lose both parents, one for murder and the other for incarceration or suicide.

This chapter addresses the possible impacts of crime and presents guidelines that allow the structuring of a comprehensive, multisectoral, integrated and trauma-focused intervention directed at these children and young people.
